‘In Light of Light’ London Sci-Fi Film Festival 2009 official selection.

‘In Light of light’ was created for the London Science Fiction 48 hour film challenge, in which the film makers that took part had to script, shoot, create the music, sound effects and edit a short film within 48 hours. Each team was given a random prop, dialogue and a title to use within the film. As you can imagine it was a stressful shoot. Of the 77 teams to enter only 55 teams completed their films in time. Although our three man team didn’t win in the event we believe that the final outcome is worth a watch.

Jonathan Chance: Biography

John Chance  Jonathan Chance
Along with his brother Richard, John Chance co-wrote their debut film The Veil, completing it in 2005, and secured a distributor for its release on DVD in January 2008. At the age of just 22, John assumed the roles of editor, co-star and assistant director on the project, and took on an additional workload of post production, sound mixing and establishment of the film’s “feel” with atmospheric sound and music.

Post-Veil, John and Richard went on to direct 2007’s Chainmail. The short, an example of what minimal actors and crew can accomplish with no money (just imagination and hard work!), showcases the brothers’ potential for what could be achieved in a second feature film with financial backing. An Official Selection at the 2007 AOF (Action On Film) Film Festival in L.A., and a finalist at the International Festival of Fantastic films in Manchester, England, its success continues with a showing on SKY Television’s Channel 195, reaching an audience of 8-14 million.

2008 has been a successful and productive year for the young filmmakers, with a critically acclaimed debut feature on DVD, a second film airing on a popular TV channel in Europe and the UK, and a recent Stateside win for their co-written eighteen-minute short, titled The Day I Tried To Live, which picked up “Best Guerilla Film-The Xristos Award” honors at AOF in July.

John is author of several short screenplays, a collaborator on four screenplays with Richard, and has just recently finished his first full-length feature screenplay.  The brothers are currently working on the script for their second feature film and are looking for agent representation and financing.

Richard Chance: Biography

Rich Chance  Richard Chance

Richard is an accomplished author of three novels and ten film scripts, and is currently working with John on the script for their second feature film, for which they are seeking financing and agent representation. He wrote, directed and co-starred in 2005’s The Veil, minimally assisted by the cast and crew work of only a few friends.
The ambitiously epic, low-budget feature debut combines psychological zombie chills with biological catastrophe to create a post-Cold War disaster parable with a raw, bare-knuckle edge that Nigel Buckland of Channel 4’s Vids fame hails as “(heralding) the future of horror”, and its innovation under minimal cost beckons the kind of cult status lauded to its classic low-budget predecessors. Over a four-year period of many weekends, Richard, his brother/co-writer John and their friend Michael Himsworth assumed multiple roles on and off-screen to make The Veil possible, and it found its way onto DVD in January 2008 after finding a distributor.

Richard and John went on to co-direct Chainmail in 2007, which Richard wrote and starred in as “Chambers”, battling the forces of evil from his living room. It was an Official Selection at the AOF (Action On Film) Film Festival in California, and a finalist at the International Festival of Fantastic Films in Manchester, England. Its success continues, showing on SKY Television’s Channel 195 to an audience of 8-14 million.

2008 has been a productive and successful year for the young filmmakers, with one critically acclaimed debut feature on DVD, a second film airing on TV in the UK and Europe, and their latest winning “Best Guerilla Film-The Xristos Award” at its first film festival of the year. In July, the brothers celebrated a Stateside win at AOF for their co-written, produced and directed eighteen-minute short, titled The Day I Tried To Live, which was filmed on location in Spain and England.
